Why Care About Your Finances?

Many people, especially young adults, when told they need to become financially responsible  respond with, "I'm young, I have time before I need to do that."  The reality is, you are never to young to become financially responsible! But why should you care about becoming responsible?  I mean it's not always the most fun.  Well did you know that the Bible mentions money over 800 times?  Generally the rule is that the more something is mentioned, the more you should pay attention to it.  A few of the verses mentioning money are:

  • Proverbs 21:20- In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.
  • Luke 14:28-  For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it.
  • Luke 12:33-  Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
Also, becoming financially responsible can help reduce the stress in your life, which in turn can benefit your health.
I would like to leave you with this quote that I found helpful,
A big part of being strong financially is that you know where you are weak and take action to make sure you don’t fall prey to the weakness. And we ALL are weak.
